hundred bulb, liquid bleach, electric equipment
1572 x 746 mm
This cleaning liquid dissolves each connection part between the glass and the socket in bulbs by degrees.
This work is planned to make destruction and creation in the same space and it makes also a short accidental encounter with a visitor. Each object is mainly constructed from about 100 bulbs filled with liquid bleach not electrically. This chemical water dissolves each connection part between the glass and the socket in bulbs by degrees. In the meantime, a bulb falls at unexpected moments and crashes, makes a changeable installation with fragments and liquid on the floor. It is motivated when I got an impression at the moment that the first bulb fell in my studio. It’s like a falling fruit from a living tree and led me to a series of thought. It is one of motivations that I am encouraged to do with this fragile material.
The “Bulb Tree” was created in 2014, which was the year when the production of the filament-bulb had ceased due to the invention of LED-technology. As the filament-bulb, one of the most important inventions, once useful but had become a relic of the past, the “bulb tree” experiences seasons of change. It also suggests a clear manifestation of new cultural circumstances.
